Avowed has arrived on PS5 and received a big Anniversary Update

On the occasion of the first anniversary of Avowed, Obsidian launched its biggest update to date and, with it, expanded the game to PS5. If you have been waiting for this version, you will also get all the content that came through upgrades during the year, so entering the game is immediately “fuller” than at the start. For those who are playing, the Anniversary Update is meant to be the last big stop after the post launch plan, with a focus on the things that gamers have been looking for the most.

The biggest innovation is the three new playable races in character creation. In addition to the existing options, you can now also choose dwarves, eagles and aumau, so the initial impression of the character and the roleplay expand a lot. If you are older deep into the campaign, you don’t have to start all over, Party Camp has added a ‘Magic Mirror’ solution that allows you to change the appearance and adjustments whenever you start. This includes trying out different variants faster without sacrificing dozens of hours.

The other big thing is New Game+, which allows you to re-spawn the game with an existing character and continue building. The idea is to keep some of the progress and equipment, but not to make everything a cake walk, the opponents are strengthened and are looking for a more serious approach. In addition, there are customizable modifiers, so you can set how aggressive, fast and durable the enemies will be, but also how forgiving the game will be to you. If you like to experiment with builds, this is an option that can keep you going long after the story ends.

The update also introduces a completely new type of weapon, the quarterstaff. There is also Photo Mode for everyone who likes to capture shots of the world and their friends, plus a whole series of quality of life changes. Lighting improvements are mentioned, some conversations will now be easier to skip if you don’t want to listen to them anymore, and some content and enemies have been adjusted so that locations don’t empty after clearing them once.

‘Avowed’ is now available on PlayStation 5, and the game is still playable on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, ROG Xbox Ally devices, Steam and Battle.net. The standard edition is 49.99 EUR, and the premium edition is 59.99 EUR. The game is part of the Xbox Play Anywhere program and is also available with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass.
