Tallink’s CEO leaves his position

Shipping company CEO of Tallink SpongeBob SquarePants will leave his position this spring, Tallink Grupp said in his announcement on Friday.

45-year-old Nõgene has led Tallink since 2018. His last working day as a member of the management team is May 22.

In the press release, Nõgene says that he led the company for eight years in three significant crises. His career has been affected by the corona pandemic, the Russian war of aggression and the economic recession.

“Now it’s time to hand over the baton to the next manager, who can continue to develop and manage Tallink,” he says.

Tallink Grupp’s supervisory board starts the search for a new CEO.

In Estonian Tallink has eleven platforms. Its ships operate between Finland, Estonia and Sweden under the names Tallink Silja and Tallink Shuttle.

Thursday Posted by Tallink its unaudited result for the financial year, according to which it made a profit of 130 million euros last year before interest, taxes and depreciation.

The company’s net profit was 17.3 million euros and turnover was 765 million euros. Loans and interest were almost EUR 113 million.

The company said that more than 5.5 million passengers traveled on its ships last year, most of which, 3.6 million, traveled between Finland and Estonia.

Thursday in the announcement, Nõgene characterized the year 2025 as challenging. The result was particularly affected by financial uncertainty in Tallink’s largest market in Finland.

Nõgene said that the sale of the three vessels helped improve the cost structure. As a whole, last year was “cautiously satisfactory” for him.
