Germans missing for days discovered dead in Spanish gorge

Matavenero (Spain) – The landscape of El Bierzo is considered a paradise for hikers: picturesque mountains frame a green basin of chestnut and oak forests. Now the place became the scene of a terrible accident. Emergency services discovered the body of a German tourist (50) in a ravine.

The woman was reported missing in Spain on February 14th. The Guardia Civil searched with a large number, and patrols from Citizen Security and the Seprona nature conservation authority were also involved. The operation remained fruitless for several days – until support from the air was finally provided and the worst fears came true.

The gorge in which the Missing people was found lifeless, is located near the well-known hippie mountain village of Matavenero (León Province). Dozens of dropouts live here without heating or running water. The German was last seen nearby in a popular hiking area. According to “El Bierzo”, the temperatures were low and the ground was covered by a thick layer of snow.

As the Guardia Civil Léon reports, the lifeless body has already been recovered and taken to Bembibre by plane. According to a court order, the deceased should be autopsied to determine the exact cause of death. However, there is currently no evidence of external influence.
