OpenAI plans to launch its artificial intelligence speaker in 2027

OpenAI continues with the development of its speaker with artificial intelligence (IA) which, created by former Apple design director Jony Ive, has been shared that its arrival is scheduled for early 2027 and will have a camera capable of recognizing objects and faces.

The development plans for this type of device in the form of a speaker were initially announced last September, which is expected to be the first OpenAI ‘hardware’ releasealthough it also works on a range of smart products, including some glasses and one smart lamp.

However, sources related to OpenAI have detailed in statements to The Information collected by The Verge, that the launch of this smart speaker is scheduled for the beginning of next year 2027, a date that is consistent with statements by OpenAI Global Affairs Director Chris Lehane, who indicated that the presentation of the company’s first AI device could arrive at the end of 2026 or be delayed to early 2027.

The same sources close to the technology company led by Sam Altman have also advanced that this speaker with AI will have a camera that will be able recognize objects and faces thanks to a system similar to Apple’s Face ID. Regarding the cost of the smart speaker, they have indicated that it is expected to cost between 200 and 300 dollars (between 170 and 255 euros approximately at the exchange rate).

While OpenAI’s first hardware release may occur in 2027, the arrival of other AI devices from the company could delayed to 2028in the case of the glassesor is still in development phaselike the smart lamp.
