The aircraft carrier Gerald R. Ford has passed Italy and is heading to the Middle East

The American aircraft carrier Gerald R. Ford is located south of Italy and is heading to the Middle East, The New York Times writes, citing military sources.

The carrier strike group includes the destroyers Mahan, Winston S. Churchill and Bainbridge, equipped with Tomahawk cruise missiles with a range of 1,600 km. The Gerald R. Ford is home to 48 F/A-18 Super Hornets in four squadrons.

The aircraft carrier Gerald R. Ford is expected to approach the Israeli coast in the coming days and will likely remain in the area to assist the IDF in the event of an escalation in the conflict with Iran.
