Prime Minister: Science and technology is the universal key

On the morning of February 23, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited and worked at the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology. He emphasized that in the age of science and technology, “talent” is the team of intellectuals and scientists who directly create new knowledge, technology, and values ​​for the country. The nation’s history shows that at every turning point, when the Fatherland needs it, talented people appear; Today, the “heroes” are scientists who conquer the pinnacle of knowledge, master technology, and contribute to ensuring independence and autonomy with Vietnamese human intelligence.

The Head of Government emphasized the spirit of protecting independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and developing the country with Vietnamese strength and intelligence. In particular, internal resources such as people, nature, and culture are basic, strategic, long-term, and decisive; External resources such as technology, finance, administration, and human resource training are breakthroughs.

“History has proven that science and technology are always the universal key, the decisive factor for national development and prosperity; knowledge and technology are the valuable sources that bring the country into the era of advancement,” the Prime Minister affirmed.

Assessing the Academy as an important “fortress” of knowledge, where the intelligence and creativity of Vietnamese people crystallize, the Prime Minister requested the Academy to affirm its role as the leading science and technology center in Vietnam, gradually on par with advanced countries in the region and the world, with the motto “elite intelligence – mastering technology – strong transformation – closely following the situation – creating the future”.

The Institute needs to pioneer research and application of science and technology in all fields, including artificial intelligence, big data, and genetic technology; Build a national database on science and technology to serve policy planning. Vietnam needs to master core technology and source technology to solve practical problems. The fields of mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology strive to reach regional and world advanced levels by 2030.

Government leaders also mentioned developing new economic models such as low-range space, data economy, silver economy, circular economy, knowledge economy, sharing economy, and night economy. He emphasized the principle that science is not separate from the market and asked the Institute to proactively open laboratories, increase cooperation with private corporations, and put businesses at the center of the innovation system; There is a mechanism for scientists to engage in commercialization of research results, turn inventions into practical products, and participate in national, regional and global value chains. The Institute “must be the strategic advisory brain” on science and technology for the Party and State in fields such as artificial intelligence, energy, marine economy, water security, and space.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, awarded the First Class Labor Medal to the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology.

Launch the one-person-one-sport movement

On the afternoon of February 23, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited and worked with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, meeting and encouraging cultural workers, intellectuals, artists, journalists, reporters, athletes, coaches and business representatives in the fields of culture, sports and tourism.

Listening to the opinions of delegates, the Prime Minister assigned the industry to launch a movement for one sport for each person, emphasizing that people’s health is the foundation of sustainable development. According to him, when people are physically and mentally healthy, they will reduce the medical burden, increase labor productivity, improve the quality of human resources and strengthen national strength. The all-people sports movement not only improves stature and physical strength but also contributes to building a healthy lifestyle, connecting the community and creating a source of recruiting athletes for high-performance sports.

The Prime Minister also requested the harmonious development of mass sports and high performance, promoting the application of science and technology, sports medicine, and digital transformation in training and competition to improve investment efficiency and international achievements.

Regarding culture, the head of the Government proposed to improve institutions and remove bottlenecks in resource mobilization, especially the public-private partnership mechanism; develop cultural ecosystems, cultural industries and cultural infrastructure on a national scale. He requested the formation of sharp cultural theory forums with regional influence, promoting the role of the press in shaping public opinion and spreading positive values.

For tourism, the Prime Minister requested to restructure, improve quality and competitiveness, strive to welcome 25 million international visitors and serve 150 million domestic visitors in 2026; At the same time, start working right from the beginning of the year, without delay in implementing tasks.
