Electricity price relief on Wednesday, cheap hours in the evening

The consumer price of stock exchange electricity (incl. VAT 25.5 percent) will be clearly cheaper on Wednesday. Especially in the evening, the price drops, and the lowest hourly price of the day is 3.1 cents per kilowatt hour at 9 p.m. However, in the morning, the price is still high and peaks at 18.1 cents per kilowatt hour at 8 a.m. and 9 a.m.

The hourly prices stated in the article are averages calculated from the four quarter-hour prices for each hour. Electronic exchange North Pool switched to 15-minute pricing from the beginning of October 2025.

Wednesday night’s low prices are close to the typical price level of around four cents. Such prices occur about half the time. Morning and daytime higher prices of more than ten cents are also common and occur about one-fifth of the time.

On Tuesday, the price of electricity was significantly higher than on Wednesday. A price spike is expected in the evening, when the hourly price rises to 22.9 cents per kilowatt-hour at 6 and 7 p.m. Hourly prices above 20 cents are rare, and only occur about seven percent of the time.
