Meloni confirms support for Kiev: "Let Europe speak with one voice"

The Italian government “renews its solidarity and closeness” to the institutions and the Ukrainian population, “accompanies the negotiation process promoted by the United States“, aims at “solid security guarantees” for Ukraine, the humanitarian commitment carried out “constitutes the prerequisite for the future reconstruction of the nation, in which Italy participates with a leading role”, the objective “remains that of creating the conditions so that the Ukrainian population can live in peace”. The Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni connected via video conference today at the meeting of the coalition of the willing to reiterate support for Kiev on the fourth anniversary of Russian aggression. Returning to underline the need to put pressure on Russia and for the European Union to speak with one voice.

Italy – Palazzo Chigi said in a note – “is paying particular attention to the urgent humanitarian needs of the Ukrainian population”. In detail, “a program for the supply of generators and boilers is currently underway to support the Ukrainian energy system, which is fundamental for civil resilience” and “at the same time, an initiative has been launched for the supply of healthcare equipment for the maternal and child departments of hospitals located in the areas most affected by the attacks”.

Meanwhile, tomorrow the green light will arrive for the Ukraine bill in the Senate, the government has placed a vote of confidence and the League has also made it known that, with the exception of the Northern League member Claudio Borghi, it will vote unitedly in favor of the measure. “There will be further aid packages throughout 2026“, Fazzolari said. “Russia – he insisted – is faced with a historic and strategic defeat that will probably pay for decades and decades”.
