Russia: We handed over 1,000 bodies to Ukraine, they gave us 35

“The bodies of 1,000 dead Ukrainian soldiers were handed over to Ukraine. In return, Russia received the bodies of 35 Russian soldiers,” announced the adviser and negotiatorč Kremlin Vladimir Medinsky on Telegram.

The exchange of the mortal remains of fighters is one of the rare areas of cooperation between Moscow and Kiev since the beginning of a major Russian offensive against the neighboring country, which entered its fifth year on Tuesday.

Medinski accompanied the announcement with a photo of people in white protective suits taking bags of bodies out of the refrigerator.

This announcement precedes the talks in Zcaronevi between the Ukrainian negotiator Rustem Umerov and the envoys of the American President Donald Trump, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, in order to prepare for new trilateral negotiations with Russia, which should take place at the beginning of March.

The Kremlin’s economic adviser, Kirill Dmitriev, is also scheduled to meet with Witkoff and Kushner in Geneva.

Washington is advocating for an end to the war in which hundreds of thousands of people have been killed and wounded and which has caused enormous destruction in Ukraine.

But the negotiations stalled, primarily because Moscow demands that Kyiv cede parts of the territory, which Ukraine refuses to do.
