Dortmund’s Champions League exit: Why BVB failed in Bergamo

NNot even Gregor Kobel could be left out, as has often been the case this Dortmund Champions League season. BVB have conceded 21 goals in ten European games this season, a remarkable figure, especially in the Bundesliga context (22 goals conceded in 23 games). And yet, given all the goals conceded, no one would ever have thought to question the Swiss in goal: Kobel was such a secure support all season long; they had to protect him in a 1:4 in Manchester, a 0:2 against Inter Milan and especially in a 4:4 in Turin in September.
