On February 27, President and CEO of the World Economic Forum (WEF) Borge Brende said he would resign.
“After careful consideration, I decided to resign from the position of President and CEO of the World Economic Forum. My eight and a half years here have been extremely meaningful. I am grateful for the great collaboration of my colleagues, partners and stakeholders. I also believe that this is the right time, helping the Forum continue its important tasks without interruption,” he said.
This comes a few weeks after WEF launched an independent investigation into his relationship with billionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. However, Brende’s announcement did not mention Epstein.

Previously, the US Department of Justice released documents showing that Brende had 3 business dinners with Epstein, and exchanged emails and text messages with this person. Brende is a former Norwegian foreign minister who has held the role of WEF President since 2017.
Epstein was arrested and committed suicide in prison in 2019, while awaiting trial on charges of sexual pimping and sexual abuse of minors. This billionaire was tried by a Florida court in 2008 on prostitution charges, but reached a plea agreement to avoid a life sentence and only had to receive a 13-month prison sentence with financial compensation to the victims.
On January 31, the US Department of Justice released 3 million pages of documents, photos and videos related to the investigation of Epstein. This profile includes additional information related to a number of famous politicians, royal members and wealthy businessmen.
WEF also said on February 26 that an independent review conducted by external consultants on the relationship between Brende and Epstein had also been completed. The investigation found no additional problems beyond what was previously announced.
Alois Zwinggi – a leader of the WEF – will take on the role of interim President and CEO. The Forum’s Board of Trustees will oversee the transition process, and at the same time plan to find an official successor.
