Employment: from the city to the fields or how to successfully retrain in agriculture

Today it is still possible to become a farmer or raise goats without coming from the agricultural world. Of the 479 new Breton farmers supported last year, 34% set up outside the family and did not come from this sector, indicates the Brittany Chamber of Agriculture. 28% were women, now present in all productions and all statuses, and almost half are managers of their company.

Many urban residents are also attracted by these agricultural professions, and they are not only in the aisles of the Agricultural Show (until March 1 at Porte de Versailles in Paris). Since the launch of the Paris Fertile program in 2022, 2,517 Parisians have participated in discovery or training activities supported by the city of Paris. Out of 719 people supported in a professional career, 75% experienced a positive outcome (training, employment, business creation).
