Jacy vents after Coritiba’s defeat at Couto

“She taught me this dedication, not only in football, but in anything, to be a good father, a good son, a good husband. I can represent in the best way all the shirts I wear, whether for a small team or a big team, like today at Coritiba. I’m happy to play in Série A, I’m going to give myself as much as possible”, he said.

The defender revealed that his mother faced cancer for the first time in 2021, when he was still competing in the second division of the Paranaense Championship. The family fought with the resources they had and achieved remission of the disease in 2023. However, in 2024 the cancer returned, this time in a more aggressive form. According to Jacy, she hid the diagnosis while there was still hope, but when the situation became irreversible, there was no longer any possibility of treatment.

“When she found out, she was already at her limit, there was no longer a medical cure, only divine. God wanted to take her. When we went up, she had sent a message saying that she was going to see me playing in a Series A, but unfortunately she couldn’t”, declared the defender, emotionally. “I’m honoring her on the field,” he added.

First-time holder, Jacy regrets Coritiba’s stumble

Starting in the Brasileirão competition for the first time – Jacy had played three other matches, but came on during the match -, the defender regretted the result, but highlighted Coritiba’s good performance in the first half.

“I’m sad about the result, as we had a very good first half, with volume and good chances to score the goal. In detail, the São Paulo team managed to score the goal. Now we have two full weeks to work on, we will correct the mistakes, as we know that in Serie A the detail makes the difference”, he stressed.

Coritiba only returns to the field on March 11th, against Corinthians, at 9:30 pm, at the NeoQuímica Arena, in São Paulo.
