Israel is preparing for the collapse of the negotiations with Iran

The talks in Geneva: consultations are held in Israel both in the security system and at the political level. It is estimated that the negotiations will collapse and that the US will attack Iran. Senior Israeli officials believe that there is no way to bridge the gaps, and that the Iranians themselves will be the ones to destroy this negotiation – and lead Trump towards the decision that has so far been shy of coming. In Jerusalem, for the time being, they are satisfied with the American line, and especially with the fact that the US has set specific conditions that are at the highest level of demands for the Iranians. A senior Israeli official said: “If it stays like this – there is no chance of an agreement. This is not the Iranian DNA.”

Another point concerns Hezbollah’s involvement in the campaign. The assessment in Jerusalem, after many discussions, is that the chance that Hezbollah, and also the Houthis, will join if Iran attacks Israel – is a high chance. According to the estimates in the security establishment, even if the Hezbollah organization is broken and does not resemble what we used to know, it should be prepared for the fact that in such a struggle whose framing is almost axial – it will not be able to stand on the other side.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said at the end of the round of talks with Iran that it was “among the most serious we have had with the US.” He added: “We expressed very clearly our demands regarding the lifting of sanctions – what are our expectations and what things need to be realized. We talked about the US’s unilateral sanctions, about their various aspects and the many areas they include.”

Arakchi claimed that the issue of the Security Council also came up in the talks, “including the differences of opinion that exist there and what needs to happen in this context. All of this was presented very clearly from our side, and it was agreed that at the next meeting we will deal with this issue in a systematic and detailed manner.”

The Iranian Foreign Minister said that on Monday the technical meetings within the framework of the International Atomic Energy Agency will begin. “This in itself indicates that both sides have reached such a level of seriousness that they are now entering into the small and technical details. In addition, it was agreed that the next round of negotiations, the fourth round – will take place very soon. I estimate that it will be within about a week,” Arakchi claimed.
