Mini-enterprises can get a free stand at the weekly market

“By offering mini-enterprises the opportunity to participate for free, we lower the financial barriers for students. We see this as a valuable investment in the entrepreneurs of tomorrow. The council will carefully assess each application for its educational character, so that we monitor the quality of our market and the learning experience of young people,” says Alderman for Entrepreneurship, Yves Coquilhat.

Educational project

The council of aldermen will always make a decision about offering the place for free. According to the market regulations, this is possible because it is a training school and an educational project. This is not a purely commercial initiative with profit as the main objective, which could result in a loss of market contribution.

According to Mayor Koen Metsu (N-VA), the mini-companies can become an additional asset for the market: “Our Tuesday market is the beating heart of Edegem. We like to give young people the space to show their projects to Edegem residents.”

Mini-companies that are interested can submit an application to the Edegem local government. After the council of aldermen has approved the application based on the educational objectives, the location will be provided free of charge. The entrepreneurs must provide their own materials and logistics organization.
