New Roma stadium in Pietralata: ok from the council

New significant step forward for the Roma stadium. The Giallorossi club is running fast, not just in the league. The Board ofRome Capitalapproved the proposed resolution for the acknowledgment of the verification of compliance withTechnical and economic feasibility project (PFTE) del new stadium of the Capitoline club nell’area di Stonedto the conditions, requirements and recommendations established with the declaration ofpublic interestof May 2023.

The measure will now be examined by theCompetent commissionsand, in the coming weeks, subjected to the final vote of theCapitoline Assemblyfor confirmation ofpublic interestof the project. ThePFTEdelivered in December byAS Romaaffects a total area of27 hectares. Of these,11.6 hectaresthey are intended topublic green e 3.5 hectares a squares and pedestrian pathsfor a total of approximately15 hectares of open public spaces. The intervention constitutes anew urban centre e un’multifunctional infrastructuredesigned to be usable throughout the year, even outside ofsporting events.

The Stadium will have a capacity of 60,605 seats

The stadium will have a capacity of60,605 seatswith a curve from23,000 seatsamong the largest in Europe. The complex will host functions open to the city: a1,600 m2 museumun 1,800 m2 fan store, 30 points of sale245 m2 for the park bar and21,000 m2 intended for hospitality and conference activities (MICE). The architecture recalls the tradition ofancient Romeand integrates the distinctive signs of the Club: the writing “Roma 1927” on the south facade and the emblem of theAS Romaon the north facade.

Green areas and public spaces

The project involves the creation of two large green areas integrated into theurban system: il stadium park e il central park. The stadium park includes the facility for6.7 hectarescirca 50,000 m2 of green areasand connection spaces, in addition to the podium withsquares and pedestrian paths. The central park, extended for6.9 hectaresit will be onedaily and multifunctional public spacecon aree per recreational activities, outdoor sportsstop andcycle/pedestrian paths. Also planned is thepedestrianization of the former via Sublatathe realization ofnew squares, accessible play areas, fitness spaces e catering services.

Mobility and parking

On the front ofmobility and parkingare expected91,426 m2 of public and private parking for public useincluding underground structures (also usable on days without events), at-grade and multi-storey car parks, as well asthree velostations. They are expected2,606 parking spacesin the stadium sector and in the Detailed Plan e5,712 motorcycle spaces. To these are added2,577 parking spacesin the parking lots along theB line(Santa Maria del Soccorso, Ponte Mammolo, Rebibbia), of which1,901 usable on race dayse 1,660 seats lungo la FL2 line(La Rustica UIR, La Rustica Città, Serenissima), of which996 destined for match day.

Cycle-pedestrian system

Il cycle/pedestrian systemwill connect the area to the existing network andTiburtina stationguaranteeingcontinuity and safety of the routes. There are one plannedcycle path lungo l’asse nord–sud, three velostations(Monti Tiburtini, comparto Istat, via Achille Tedeschi) e3,582 bike spacesoltre a two cycle/pedestrian walkwaystowards Tiburtina station, an overpass of the railway line in the direction of via Livorno and a walkway on via dei Monti di Pietralata.

Economic investment

L’overall investmenton the part ofAS Roma ammonta a 1,047.79 million eurosof which696.37 millionintended for the realization ofstadioand the remaining amount aturbanization works e ai construction costs.

Requirements and authorizations

La resolution approved by the Councilconfirms the transposition intoPFTE delle requirements defined as mandatory dall’Capitoline Assemblyand, in relation to the strengthening of the parking offer, directs the allocation of part of the proceeds deriving fromconstruction costto the realization ofadditional parkingin the reference area and to integrate theUrban parking planwith new areas to be identified in the affected quadrant. The provision also authorizes theMayoror his delegate, to participate in theDecision-making services conferencewhich will be announced byLazio region.

Next stage of the project

After the final approval of the Capitoline Assembly, the project will be submitted tosingle regional authorization procedureinclusive ofenvironmental impact assessment e della Decision-making services conference.
