Spain gets fully into the fight for fifth place in the Champions League

LaLiga EA Sports keeps six of the eight teams that began the 2025-26 season competing in European competition alive, being the second league with the most representatives after the Premier League, which maintains the nine with which it started. Thus, in recent days they have managed to overcome Italy, which has lost Inter Milan and Juventus, and Portugal, which saw Benfica eliminated. Furthermore, the elimination of Borussia Dortmund at the hands of Atalanta has allowed Spain to get closer to within 0.398 points of Germany.

In the Champions League, the draw has been kind in general terms, placing FC Barcelona alongside Newcastle and Atlético de Madrid with Tottenham, while Real Madrid will once again face City. And in the Europa League, Genk and Porto will be the rivals of Freiburg and Stuttgart, respectively.

Thus, if Spain is able to keep up with the Bundesliga, and manages to advance to the final rounds of, above all, the first two competitions on the Old Continent, LaLiga EA Sports could have eight teams in Europe for the second consecutive season, five of them in the Champions League.

It must be remembered that for the calculation of points, each victory adds 2 coefficient points, a tie grants 1 point and nothing is obtained for a loss. In addition, clubs that advance through the knockout rounds earn 1.5 extra points for each round in the UEFA Champions League, 1 extra point for each round in the UEFA Europa League and 0.5 extra points for each round in the UEFA Conference League. And all these points added are divided by the number of initial participants that the federation had in Europe.
