Slim wins the largest of 7 contracts with the oil company

Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) awarded seven of the 10 mixed development contracts, one of them was awarded to GSM Bronco, Carlos Slim Helú’s company.

In a conference to present the financial and operational results for 2025, Víctor Rodríguez Padilla, general director of Pemex, indicated “progress was made in strengthening the company’s financial, technical and technological capabilities through mixed development contracts.

“To date, seven of them have been awarded, while three are in the competitive process. Pemex will continue to evaluate new projects under this scheme,” he added.

These advances, he noted, in collaboration with the private sector are aligned with the objective of supplying the National Refining System, which is made up of seven plants, including the Olmeca. The Macavil mixed development contract, the most important, since it is estimated that 393.2 million cubic feet of wet gas and 27.5 million barrels of condensate will be recovered, was awarded to GSM Bronco, a subsidiary of Grupo Carso. This despite the fact that Slim Helú’s company was indicated by the Superior Audit of the Federation (ASF) of receiving excessive payments in the Quesqui field in 2024.

Consorcio 5M del Golfo, a Mexican oil and gas firm, based in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, specialized in land operations, obtained the contracts for Tamaulipas Constituciones, Sini–Caparroso and Madrefil–Bellota.

Geolis, a Mexican oil company, based in Tabasco, won the contract for the Cuervito field. Petrolera Miahuapán will participate in the Agua Fría contract.

Octavio Barrera, director of Exploration and Production of Pemex, said that only one of the seven contracts remains to be signed.
