Advertisement causes fever with the scenario ‘Technology CEOs age, AI dominates’

Startup AiCandy (Belgium) launched a fictional ad about the year 2036, when famous technology tycoons are old and humans have to serve AI.

AiCandy, a startup specializing in AI videos, uses this technology to create commercials for Energym – a fictional company co-founded by Elon Musk (CEO SpaceX), Jeff Bezos (CEO Project Prometheus) and Sam Altman (CEO OpenAI). The ad describes that in 2036, people will become “jobless” while AI continues to require huge amounts of energy.

Energym helps solve both problems with its unique chain of gyms, designed to harness the energy unemployed people generate when working out on machines. This energy will help operate the AI server, which is what puts them out of work.

In the 40-second video, elderly AI versions of Musk, Bezos and Altman appear one after another. Three technology leaders provide disturbing information about the future world and introduce the activities of the newly established company.

The video posted by AiCandy on Instagram on February 26 quickly reached millions of views, more than 110,000 likes and 3,000 comments after more than a day. Many X users reshare, including the account’s post Shubham Mishra currently attracting more than 6 million views.

Hans Buyse and Jan De Loore, who co-founded AiCandy last year, said they were excited by how viral the video was. Buyse worked in advertising for two decades, while De Loore designed motion graphics and painted paintings.

Initially, AiCandy received mixed reviews from customers about AI videos, mainly saying they caused pollution and consumed a lot of energy. Buyse then came up with the idea of making a video about man-made clean energy. The idea was shelved until a few weeks ago, when De Loore decided to revive it and create a story revolving around elderly versions of American tech tycoons.

The two founders said that their inbox is currently filled with cooperation offers, even the famous AI video producer Dor Brothers has invited them to work. However, the duo hopes to receive more emails from Elon Musk.

The video about Energym is just a fantasy, but AI making a series of workers unemployed is not unrealistic. Last October, Amazon announced it was laying off 14,000 employees, explaining it needed fewer layers to operate quickly and considered AI “the most powerful transformational technology seen since the Internet”. On February 26, financial technology company Block (formerly Square) announced a 40% cut of more than 10,000 employees due to AI. Jack Dorsey, founder and CEO of Block, believes that most companies will eventually implement HR reforms when they see increased efficiency thanks to smart tools.
