Televisa loses 6.2% on the Mexican Stock Exchange

The shares of the Mexican media giant Grupo Televisa closed yesterday with a drop of 6.2 percent, after it announced the cancellation of a dividend this year and after on Thursday it reported losses of 7,534 million pesos in the last quarter of the year.

“Considering various opportunities that we are exploring in the telecommunications sector in Mexico, our board of directors approved suspending the payment of our regular dividend in 2026,” declared Francisco Valim, head of the company’s cable, internet and satellite TV business.

In a call with analysts, Grupo Televisa executives specified that the firm is actively exploring opportunities in the telecommunications sector, although without offering details.

The price of Televisa shares on the Mexican Stock Exchange closed at 10.23 pesos with a difference of 0.74 cents compared to Thursday’s close, meaning 6.75 percent on the Mexican stock market, eliminating some 1,872 million pesos (108.61 million dollars) from the firm’s market capitalization.

On Thursday, the company reported a net loss in the fourth quarter, missing market expectations for its performance at the end of 2025 (https://acortar.link/pqoBuX). The results were “marked by challenging growth trends in revenue, but with continued improvement in profitability levels,” Santander analysts noted.

Along with Televisa, titles such as that of the tequila producer Becle CUERVO.MX led the decline of the Mexican stock market with 2.86 percent less to 17.35 pesos per share.
