Foodora stops in Finland

Food courier service Foodora will stop its operations in Finland by the end of February, the company announced on Friday.

The company has completed its change negotiations, as a result of which it decided to cease operations.

You can order food through Foodora until February 27, after which the service will no longer be available in Finland.

Foodora announced in January that it would start change negotiations, in which withdrawal from the Finnish market was considered as one option.

In the press release published on Friday, Foodora justifies its departure with its strategic emphasis. It means that the company wants to focus in the future on markets where it has a real chance to become a market leader.

Foodora also mentions that its goal is to continue to build its brand in the rest of Europe.

According to Foodora, the termination decision affects approximately 80 local employees. They, partners and food consignors have been informed of the decision, the company says.

The restaurants and shops that cooperate with Foodora will be informed separately about further actions, the release says.

Foodora started in Finland in 2015. After the service’s exit, Wolt will remain among the platform-based food courier services in Finland.

The US-based Uber Eats is scheduled to start in Finland later this year.
