iPad Air M4 launched with 12 GB RAM

Right after the iPhone 17e, Apple also launched another product, the 8th generation iPad Air using the M4 chip, “a generation” slower than the M5 used on the more advanced iPad Pro line. Other upgrades are also related to hardware with 12 GB RAM, N1 wireless network chip supporting Wi-Fi 7, custom C1X modem similar to iPhone Air.

According to Apple, the M4 chip makes iPad Air 30% faster than the version using the M3 chip and 2.3 times faster than the version using the M1 chip. The new chip used has an 8-core CPU and 9-core GPU similar to the version on the MacBook. Professional 3D rendering performance with ray tracing technology is four times faster than iPad Air with M1 chip, delivering more accurate lighting, reflections and shadows for demanding games.

The introduced 16-core Neural Engine is three times faster than the M1 chip, optimized for everyday tasks that use on-device AI, like searching for subjects and text in photos, or taking advantage of AI features in apps like Goodnotes and Onform: Video Analysis App. Memory bandwidth is also increased from 100 GB/s to 120 GB/s helping users run AI models faster.

The N1 wireless network chip supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and Thread 3. This equipment also helps iPad Air 2026 provide better performance when connected to 5 GHz Wi-Fi networks, while improving the overall performance and reliability of features like AirDrop and Personal Hotspot. With the C1X mobile modem, the device also has 50% faster mobile performance and 30% power savings compared to the iPad Air using the M3 chip.

The device still has two sizes to choose from: 11 and 13 inch screens and four colors: blue, purple, starlight yellow and gray. The device will support accompanying accessories such as Apple Pencil Pro, Apple Pencil (USB-C) and Magic Keyboard. Outstanding features of the iOS 26 operating system are fully supported such as the Liquid Glass interface, the window system, and the Files app to browse files like a computer.

Apple’s new tablet remains within the company’s environmental commitment by being manufactured from 30% recycled materials, including a shell that uses 100% recycled aluminum and a battery that contains 100% recycled cobalt. Equipment is produced using 40% renewable electricity, such as wind and solar power, across the supply chain.

iPad Air has a starting price of 16,689,000 VND for the 11-inch version and 22,089,000 VND for the 13-inch version. For pupils, students, and people working in the education industry, the price is reduced from 15,289,000 VND and 20,689,000 VND respectively. Configuration options remain the same with 128 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB and 1 TB internal memory.

There is no information about when it will be sold in Vietnam. In the US, users can order from March 4 and receive the device from March 11.
