The new iPad Air arrives with the M4 chip and greater speed to run AI

Apple has announced the new tablet iPad Air, which is powered by the M4 processor, runs artificial intelligence models at faster speeds and has support for WiFi 7, Bluetooth 6 and Thread.

Apple has highlighted the versatility of its new tablet, which arrives with the features of iPadOS 26 for multitasking and creativity, including the Liquid Glass design that offers a translucent finish.

It is driven by the M4 chip, that offers “a significant jump in performance”, sAs Apple highlighted in a press release, the new iPad Air is up to 30 percent faster than the iPad Air with M3 and up to 2.3 times faster than the iPad Air with M1.

The M4 chip also powers the artificial intelligence of the Apple Intelligence ecosystem. The unified memory of the new iPad Air increases by 50 percent to 12 GB and its memory bandwidth amounts to 120 GB/s, so users can run AI models at higher speeds. Additionally, the 16-core Neural Engine is three times faster than the M1.

The iPad Air debuts the N1, a wireless connectivity chip designed by Apple that adds compatibility with WiFi 7, Bluetooth 6 y Thread. The iPad Air WiFi + Cellular model also integrates the C1X, the mobile data modem designed by Apple.

Apple has also highlighted among the improvements that this tablet brings the 12MP Center Stage front camera, which is located on the longest edge of the device, and the horizontal stereo speakers. It is, furthermore, compatible with accessories, such as Apple Pencil styluses (USB-C) y the Apple Pencil Pro, and the Magic Keyboard.

The new iPad Air is available in two sizes: 11 inches (from 649 euros) and 13 inches (from 849 euros), in blue, purple, star white and space gray, and with 128 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB or 1 TB capacity. Both are in the WiFi version and in the WiFi + Cellular version.

Apple has reported that the tablet will go on sale Wednesday March 11but it is possible to reserve it from March 4.
