Gulf states unite against Iran United Arab Emirates Kuwait Saudi Arabia Qatar

According to the official document issued from Doha, the signatory countries “strongly condemn Iran’s indiscriminate and reckless missile and drone attacks against sovereign territories throughout the region.” The message lists a long list of targets that have come under fire, including Bahrain, Iraq (including the Iraqi Kurdistan Region), Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. The Qatari Foreign Ministry clarifies that “These unjustified attacks were aimed at sovereign territory, endangered civilian populations and damaged civilian infrastructure.”

The background for this dramatic statement, which comes at the height of a serious regional crisis, is the Iranian response to the recent escalation in the Middle East and the attacks by the US and Israel. Instead of containing the events, Tehran chose to expand the circle of fire and fire hundreds of weapons at the Gulf countries that host American forces, and even hit civilian targets.

The joint statement does not mince words and states that Iran’s actions “constitute a dangerous escalation that violates the sovereignty of several countries and threatens regional stability.” It also states that “the intention to harm civilians and countries that are not involved in hostilities is reckless and destabilizing behavior.”
