Football: three Tottenham fans banned for life after Nazi salutes in the Champions League

Tottenham did not procrastinate. While three of their supporters performed Nazi salutes on January 28 during the trip to Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League, the London club decided to ban them for life. A sanction which follows that imposed by UEFA, which penalized the club.

In a press release released this Monday, the European football body detailed the sanctions imposed on Spurs, including a fine of 30,000 euros. They are also banned from selling tickets for their supporters during an away match “due to the racist and/or discriminatory behavior of some of these supporters”. This 2nd sanction is however accompanied by a one-year reprieve, London fans will therefore be able to travel to Madrid for the round of 16 against Atlético.

Tottenham reacted in a press release, citing the “absolutely odious behavior of a small number of individuals”. “The club cooperated fully with the UEFA investigation, as well as with the German police on the evening of the incident and, subsequently, with the Metropolitan Police,” he assures. We can confirm that the three individuals caught making Nazi salutes towards Eintracht Frankfurt supporters have been identified and have been suspended for life under the club’s sanctions and expulsion policy. »
