Vladimir Putin threatens: ‘They could immediately cut off gas to Europe…’

On April 15, the European Commission will submit a legal proposal on a permanent ban on the import of Russian oil, three days after parliamentary elections in Moscow, according to EU officials and a document seen by Reuters.

“And now other markets are opening up. And maybe it would be more profitable for us to immediately stop supplying the European market. Let’s move to those markets that are opening up and establish ourselves there,” Putin told Russian state television reporter Pavel Zarubin.

“But this is not a decision, it is, in this case, what is called thinking out loud. I will certainly instruct the government to work on this issue together with our companies.”

Putin repeated that Russia has always been a reliable supplierĨ of energy and that they will continue to cooperate with those partners who are themselves reliable, such as Slovakia and Hungary.
