Wednesday provided cause for celebration when the hill jumper Sofia Mattilabiathlonist Inka Hämäläinen and a cross-country skier Anton Kemppi are celebrating World Cup medals in their own sports.
Norwegian Lillehammer competes in cross-country skiing, combined and ski jumping.
Mattila, who competed in the women’s HS98 normal hill, was in eighth place after the first round, but the 97-meter cut in the second round sent the Finnish jumper to third place.
Mattila jumped 99 meters in the first round, but lost points due to a weak landing.

Mattila, 19, participated in the Milan–Cortina Olympics in February. There, his ranking was 44th on the normal hill and 39th on the large hill.
