Pop star Britney Spears temporarily arrested in California

According to authorities, her vehicle was towed away. The authorities initially did not provide any information about the exact reason for the arrest. A court date is scheduled for May 4. The US celebrity portal TMZ reports, Drunk driving would have led to arrest.

Once charged with hit-and-run

Spears has had trouble with the law in the past: in 2007, she was charged with a hit-and-run. The proceedings were discontinued after she had paid for the resulting damages. Spears has one long and complicated history with alcohol: In a custody case, also in 2007, the judge called her a “habitual, frequent and persistent” user of alcohol.

This led to the establishment of a controversial guardianship under her father in 2008. During this conservatorship, Spears was prohibited from drinking alcohol for 13 years.
