Apple announces the new MacBook Air with M5 chip

Apple has officially presented the update of the MacBook Air line, introducing the new M5 chip designed to scale performance in the field of artificial intelligence. The heart of the system relies on a 10-core CPU and a new generation GPU equipped with a neural accelerator integrated into each individual core, a technical solution that allows it to manage complex workloads and on-device language models with significantly higher speed than previous iterations. The technical data highlights a performance increase of up to four times greater than the M4 model in AI-related operations, reaching peaks of almost ten times the speed of the original M1 chip.

On the memory front, the company has revised the entry configuration by doubling the basic storage space, which now starts at 512GB on SSD technology. This new hard drive not only offers greater capacity, but guarantees double the read and write speeds than before, making it easier to multitask and open large files. Connectivity takes a step forward thanks to the integration of the N1 wireless chip, which enables the Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 standards, ensuring stability and speed of data transfer even in contexts of extreme mobility.

The hardware maintains the consolidated aesthetic in thin and light aluminum, available in 13 and 15 inch variants with 500 nit Liquid Retina display. The multimedia sector uses a 12MP Center Stage camera and a spatial audio system, while the declared battery life reaches 18 hours in total. Integration with the macOS Tahoe operating system and Apple Intelligence features positions the device as a versatile tool for both the educational and professional sectors, supported by the presence of two Thunderbolt 4 ports and MagSafe magnetic charging. The new MacBook Air will be available for pre-order starting March 4, with first deliveries scheduled for March 11.
