Last year, 58 people were injured when the Berlin police used so-called Taser weapons. This emerges from a parliamentary question from the Green MP Vasili Franco to the interior administration, which is available to the dpa news agency.
The number of injuries has increased significantly: in 2024 there were 32, as can be seen from a comparison of the data from a corresponding inquiry from the previous year. The number of Taser deployments, however, fell from 155 to 147. The “Berliner Morgenpost” had previously reported on the topic. However, according to the internal administration, the statistics for 2025 are not complete because there are still open cases that have not yet been recorded.

The police use them, among other things, so that emergency services can protect themselves from attackers without resorting to firearms. However, there is also criticism of this, not least from the Greens in the Berlin House of Representatives. “The fact that more Taser deployments lead to more injuries seems to be completely irrelevant to the internal administration,” Franco commented on the answers to his query.
