A total of 250 young people present their opera productions at the fourth edition of LÓVA at the Teatro Real

The general director of the Teatro Real, Ignacio García-Belenguerand the director of the Royal Theater of Retiro, Raquel Rivera, have inaugurated the fourth edition of the LÓVA Company Fair, which simulates a professional fair in which 250 students from 21 schools present the productions of the operas they are creating.

This Friday, various spaces of the Real Teatro del Retiro –Hall, Atrium, Lobby, Main Room, Pacific Room– have welcomed young people, between 8 and 16 years old, who, accompanied by their tutors, have presented their opera companies on stands and with promotional material made in their schools.

The LÓVA project will allow them to participate in the stage, lighting, movement, props and communication workshops offered by workers from the Real Teatro de Retiro, along with guest technicians and artists.

Almost 20 years ago, in 2007, the Real launched LÓVA -The Opera, a Learning Vehicle-, an education, integration and decentralization project promoted and directed by the American pedagogue Mary Ruth McGinn, through which teachers from schools throughout Spain convert their classrooms, throughout the entire course, into small companies that end up producing their operas.

In fact, each student who participates in LÓVA, between the ages of 5 and 16, assumes a responsibility, whether they are the author of the text, the music, set designer, lighting, carpenter, costume designer, makeup artist, stage director or communication manager.
