“I apologize (…) to the neighboring countries which were attacked by Iran. » In an astonishing mea-culpa, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian affirmed this Saturday that his Gulf neighbors would no longer be attacked by Iran, unless strikes were fired from these countries, while the conflict opposing him to Israel and the United States enters its second week.

“The provisional board of directors decided (Friday) that there would be no more attacks on neighboring countries, no more missiles fired, unless an attack on Iran came from these countries,” he said in a speech broadcast on state television.

Several Gulf countries host American military bases. Iran’s neighbors have been targeted by drones and missiles since the conflict began on February 28. Iran claimed to only target American interests or bases, which the targeted countries disputed.

Thirteen people have been killed in Gulf countries since the start of the war, including an 11-year-old girl hit by debris in a residential area of ​​Kuwait.

Second week of conflict

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian also assured that his country would never surrender, while Israel announced a new offensive led by 80 fighter planes which set fire to one of Tehran’s main airports.

“The enemies (Israel and the United States) can take to their graves their wish to see the Iranian people surrender,” he said in a speech broadcast on state television.

The war has entered its second week, spreading to many countries in the region and sending oil prices soaring with the paralysis of many hydrocarbon flows and hubs from the Gulf.
