Trump on the campaign in Iran: “We destroyed 42 ships in 3 days”

President Donald Trump referred to the military campaign against Iran and clarified the strategic motives that led to the decision: “It had to be done. Look at what happened on October 7, they must not have nuclear weapons.” Trump revealed the extent of the damage to the Iranian navy and noted that his forces “destroyed 42 ships of the Iranian navy in just three days”.

Referring to the operational situation in Tehran, the president emphasized the paralysis of the command systems: “Their communication and telecommunication systems are gone. I don’t know how they communicate now, but I guess they will figure something out eventually.” Alongside the reports from the field, Trump chose to give public support to Pete Hesseth and told him: “Pete, you are fantastic, doing a great job. We are proud of you.”

Trump also referred to the blood price of the fighting among the American forces and announced his intention to meet with the relatives: “I will meet the families of the heroes who are returning home from Iran – returning home in a different way than they thought they would return.”

On the other hand, a member of Iran’s leadership council claimed that “evidence from the military shows that territories of certain countries in the region were used openly and covertly in attacks against Iran.” The Iranian official threatened to expand the circle of combat and warned that “fierce and determined attacks on these targets in the region will continue”, while pointing an accusing finger at the neighboring countries that aided the American forces.

Tehran summarized their position in an official statement published in the state media: “Iran will not attack anyone who has not attacked it, but the right to self-defense for a country under aggression is legitimate and recognized.”
