The seawater filtration plant in Bahrain was damaged after an Iranian attack

“Iran, with its aggressive actions, randomly bombed civilian targets and caused material damage to a seawater desalination plant after an attack by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs),” Bahrain’s Ministry of Interior announced on March 8.

This is the first time an Arab country has reported Iran targeting desalination plants during the nine-day conflict in the Middle East. These plants are considered essential infrastructure that helps provide a vital source of drinking water in the dry desert regions of the Bay Area.

The attack took place after Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said a US airstrike damaged Iran’s desalination plant on Qeshm Island, warning that “America set the precedent, not Iran”.

The US military has not confirmed the attack on Iran’s desalination plant.

Hundreds of desalination plants line the Persian Gulf coast, and Arab countries in the region rely heavily on these facilities for drinking water. Bahrain’s water authority said the drone attack from Iran did not affect the water supply.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) today announced that it can maintain a high-intensity war against the US and Israel for at least another 6 months.

“Iran has so far only used ‘first and second generation’ missiles, but will deploy ‘advanced and rarely used long-range missiles’ in the coming days,” IRGC spokesman Ali Mohammad Naini stated.

The Israeli army meanwhile warned that it would continue to pursue all successors to Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, who was killed in US and Israeli air strikes on Iran on February 28. They also vowed to target anyone who seeks to appoint Mr. Khamenei’s successor, referring to the clerical body responsible for selecting the country’s Supreme Leader.
