Acute shortage of donor blood in Israel: Ministry of Health asks to donate blood

Since the start of the war, on average, about 2,000 doses of donated blood have been collected per day, while on Wednesday about 1,200 doses were collected before 16:00. The Ministry of Health is encouraging people to come and donate blood at blood collection stations across the country.

MADA also launched a new project – the opportunity to invite the Magen David Adom team to deploy a mobile blood donation station in apartment buildings. Houses that want to take part in the project must meet several criteria: a sufficient number of residents who are not older than 60 years old, who are interested in donating blood and who are not donating blood for the first time; standard secure premises or underground parking approved by the Home Front Command as an air-raid shelter; pre-agreed willingness of building residents to participate.

To coordinate organized blood donation in residential buildings, you should call 03-6610530 from Sunday to Thursday from 08:00 to 16:00.

MADA is ready to deploy about 15 donor sites in any suitable underground space, depending on the location and logistics capabilities of the facility. After the application, a MADA representative will arrive in advance to check whether the location is suitable, and then mobile blood donation points will be placed.

Maintaining a normal supply of blood for the sick and injured is a vital and ongoing need, especially in emergency situations.
