The UIA responds to Milei for the attacks on Rocca and says it was an “unjust grievance” that affects the business climate

The Argentine Industrial Union expressed its “deep discomfort and concern” due to the statements of President Javier Milei, who questioned those who defend the national industry by pointing them out as “jets.”

The factory considered that the president’s statements represent a disqualification “unfair and unfounded” towards the productive sector and warned that they can affect the business climate and institutional coexistence.

In a statement released this Wednesday, the entity maintained that the expressions of the head of state, in which he criticized “those who defend the national industry,” also reach Argentine industrialists.

According to the UIA, “investors observe not only economic opportunities, but also the quality of democratic coexistenceinstitutional respect and the business climate that a country offers”.

The manufacturing center pointed out that “throughout Argentina there are thousands of industrial companies – large, medium and small – that open their doors every day and today are going through a very difficult time due to the drop in sales and activity.”

The UIA also highlighted that the industrial network involves not only entrepreneurs but also workers and their families. “Behind each of them there are businessmen, workers and families who support the national productive framework in often complex contexts,” indicated the entity, while highlighting that many firms are making “an immense effort to adapt to the new scenario proposed by the national government.”

In this framework, the entity questioned the impact that criticism coming from the country’s highest political authority may have. The UIA stated that when from “the highest institutional investiture expressions are used that disqualify those who produce and invest, an unfair insult is generated towards that daily effort and the climate of respect that Argentina needs to rebuild is weakened.”

The Industrial Union stressed that “there is no complaint or crime that involves the people or sectors that have been the object of these grievances,” and pointed out that the president’s statements acquire “an inevitable institutional relevance” because they come from the highest authority in the country.

Finally, the entity reaffirmed its willingness to maintain dialogue with the Government. From the UIA they indicated that they will continue working for “an Argentina that grows with more investment, more production and more employment”, and stressed that this objective requires “dialogue, respect and cooperation between the public sector and the private sector.”

The president left this Tuesday with a message in which he attacked the “prebendary businessmen” and said that “corrupt Argentina is over.”

“Everyone knows that in recent weeks I had open confrontations with Paolo Roccacon Javier Madanes Quintanilla and with the textile sector. Since no one showed me a visible face, I cannot attack them directly, but I can say that the other two are prebendary businessmen.”

And he continued: “Perhaps Rocca and Madanes, in collusion with thieving politicians, They attacked the Argentines for many years, but it ended. This is over, corrupt Argentina is over.”

When referring directly to Madanes Quintanilla, Milei accused him of extorting the Government in exchange for maintaining protection that favored the country’s main aluminum factory, Aluar.

“If we did not maintain the barrier, he was going to throw 920 workers into the street one day before dealing with the labor reform… and he threw 920 workers into the street, this is not child’s play.”
