First Paralympics victory in ice hockey in 20 years

Felix Schrader scored all four goals. After a 2-0 lead and a temporary deficit, his goal to equalize 3-3 brought the team into overtime shortly before the end of regular time. In the first qualification for the games in 20 years, Germany had previously lost all three preliminary round games against China (0:12), the USA (0:13) and hosts Italy (1:2).

“Great game,” commented Schrader. “We fought hard. I thought after the 2-0 lead that we were making it easier for ourselves, but we apparently wanted to make it really exciting again. Then, despite being behind, we really gave it our all again, even when we were outnumbered. You can’t really get any more thrilling.”
