On 11 and 12 April Nova Eroica, on Tuscan dirt roads with modern bikes and an ancient spirit

The routes, two competitive and two cycling, cross some of the most iconic landscapes of Tuscany, between Crete Senesi, Chianti vineyards and the hills of Val d’Orcia. The long route, Terre di Siena (131 km, 1,990 D+, with 5 timed sections), represents the heart of the event, while the medium route, Crete Senesi (95.7 km, 1,410 D+, with three timed sections), offers an intense but more accessible experience. The program is completed by the Val d’Arbia (67 km, 970 D+) and Ombrone and Arbia (42.9 km, 500 D+) routes, designed for those who want to experience the day with a more relaxed spirit. For lovers of challenges, the Epic Route also returns, in its third edition: 290 km and approximately 5,500 meters of altitude difference, along some of the most spectacular dirt roads in Tuscany, on a route that tests even the most trained hearts and legs. Obviously there will be no shortage of Tuscan refreshments, which have always been a signature of the Eroica, where the effort of pedaling is combined with the taste of tradition.

For three days the medieval village of Buonconvento is transformed into a small festival dedicated to the culture of cycling, with meetings, music and activities that enliven the squares and alleys of the historic centre, with particular attention to the children and schools of the area. The Nova Eroica routes cross 17 municipalities along the permanent routes of L’Eroica and Eroica Montalcino, helping to enhance an area that in recent years has become one of the most popular destinations for international cycle tourism. The event is also part of the Eroica project for the environment and the Terra Eroica initiatives, which promote the protection of dirt roads and the sustainable development of the territories crossed.
