France-England: the victorious sky blue jersey of the French put up for auction, crazy sums already reached

It’s a historic jersey, which has become legendary. This Saturday evening, the XV of France won the Six Nations Tournament at the Stade de France by dominating England after a stifling match (48-46). A meeting and a title which were decided in the last moments, with the penalty scored by Thomas Ramos after the siren.

But this match was also special because it symbolized 120 years of rivalry with England. While the two teams first faced each other on March 22, 1906, they still challenge each other 120 years later in particularly important matches. The XV of France had also, for the occasion, released a collector’s jersey, sky blue, which refers to the one worn by the Blues at the beginning of the 20th century.

These jerseys were put up for auction. And they are already selling for gold prices. While the auction will only end this Saturday March 21 at 3 p.m., the tunic worn by captain Antoine Dupont, who lifted the trophy first in the center of the pitch, has already been claimed for 2,600 euros. That of the decisive scorer, Thomas Ramos, is currently worth 1,600 euros, while the jersey of Louis Bielle-Biarrey, author of four tries in this match, is also very popular and has exceeded 2,000 euros.

According to the MatchWornShirts site, which is auctioning off the outfits, the French Rugby Federation has committed to donating a portion of the revenue to the “Rugby au coeur” endowment fund which “finances projects with an educational and civic dimension through rugby in all territories”.
