The Telegraph revealed a recording detailing the sequence of the assassination of Khamenei

The attack was allegedly aimed at several buildings in the compound where the Khamenei family lived. A religious hall where Ali Khamenei used to give speeches as well as houses of other family members were also found in the complex. According to Hosseini, several buildings were hit at the same time in an attempt to hit all the family’s residences.

The election of Mujtaba Khamenei to the position also provoked criticism among parts of the Iranian leadership, who argued that the transfer of power to a family member resembled a model of royal succession. Critics pointed out that such a situation contradicts the spirit of the Islamic Revolution in Iran in 1979, which sought to replace the monarchy with a religious-revolutionary government.
