The Oscar gala proved that side splits are back in fashion

Page division made a spectacular comeback at the Oscars over the weekend. The middle division that dominated hair fashion for years was allowed to give way when numerous stars chose a strong side-combed style for their hair.

Before the Oscars, the return of the style has also been proven at the Golden Globe gala.

The change indicates the broader direction of the trend: the iconic sharing style of the 80s and early 2000s has become relevant again, especially as the Tiktok phenomenon popular with young people. There, however, generation Z calls it the “big sister period”, perhaps referring to the millennials.

“I wouldn’t say that the change is very clear in Finland yet, but center splits are no longer the only trend. Little by little, the shift is visible to side splits, even deep side splits.”

Atmos also does hairstyles for big galas, such as the Emma gala, where a lot of side partings have been seen. According to Åkerberg, trends are more clearly visible in the twenties, while Atmos’s more mature customer base does not react as sensitively to hair fashion waves.

According to Åkerberg, page sharing works for most people.

“In principle, it suits everyone. The side part breaks the balance of the face, which can be a good thing if necessary. However, the most important thing is how the hair is styled.”
