Morocco declared winner of CAN 2025: on social networks, we play on Senegal’s misfortunes

It didn’t take long for parodies to appear and multiply on social networks. Two months after the electric and stormy final of the 2025 African Football Cup of Nations, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) decided on Tuesday to invalidate the initial result.

The body thus declared “the Senegal national team forfeited” – due to the departure of some of the players from the field at the end of added time – to give the title to the Moroccans.

A rare decision – if not unique – and a reversal of the situation which inspired many anonymous people or Community Managers (CM) of certain professional clubs. The first of them is that of Paris Basketball.

On its X account, the capital’s basketball club published a message to its supporters during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday to warn them of major information.

“Official: the LNB (the National Basketball League) takes the victory away from Monaco in 2024 and we are officially back to back champions of France,” writes the Betclic Élite finalist club in 2024 before being crowned in 2025, each time against Monaco. “Parade in front of the Adidas Arena tomorrow,” even announces the PBB.

A message obviously in reference to the decision on the green carpet of CAF but which also tackles its Monegasque rival whose future is very unclear due to a deficit, accumulated over several years, of several million euros.

Medals taken from the Senegalese

The CMs of Paris Basketball are used to dusting off the habits of French basketball. It remains to be seen whether this provocation will make Mouhamed Faye, the Senegalese pivot of the club, laugh.

The X account “Out of context Football”, followed by 4.4 million subscribers, reposted a video of a montage of the awards ceremony after the CAN final… in reverse. Thanks to the technique, we see the Confederation of African Football officials removing the medals from the necks of the Senegalese and the cup from the hands of the captain of the Teranga Lions. So cruel and hilarious!

Other jokers have published memes where the Senegal coach receives a registered letter from CAF telling them to send the cup by Chronopost.
