Israel says it killed Iran’s intelligence minister

In a statement, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said that “more surprises” are expected that day.

“On this day, significant surprises are expected on all fronts, which will intensify the war we are waging against Iran and Hezbollah in Lebanon,” he said during a security assessment, according to statements provided by his office to the newspaper Times of Israel.

Katz added that the administration has authorized military forces to eliminate any senior Iranian government figure without the need for additional approval.

The announcement comes one day after the country reported the death of one of the regime’s most important authorities, the secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, Ali Larijani. The Iranian Revolutionary Guards promised revenge in a statement released by state media.

“The Revolutionary Guards will never forget the bloodlust of this great martyr, nor that of other martyrs,” warned the elite military body in a message published by the Iranian news agency Fars.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian also stated in a press statement that “there is no doubt that severe revenge awaits the criminal terrorists who have stained their filthy hands with the blood of the oppressed yet wise and steadfast martyrs of the holy land of Iran.”

In addition to Larijani, his son, one of his advisors and several security guards died in the attack, as confirmed by the Supreme National Security Council itself.

Larijani was considered one of the most influential leaders of the Iranian regime, having served as commander of the Revolutionary Guard and president of the Iranian Parliament for more than a decade.

Israel hits more than 80 Hezbollah infrastructures in Lebanon

Israel also demonstrated that it was advancing on another front in the war, in Lebanon. The Army said on Wednesday that it had dismantled more than 80 Hezbollah infrastructures in the south of the neighboring country, where it maintains infantry troops, after another night of attacks against the south and the capital, Beirut.

In response to the recent attacks, the terrorist group and Iranian forces launched joint attacks against Israeli territory that left at least two dead in Ramat Gan, in the Tel Aviv district, bringing the number of deaths in Israel to 14 since the country began bombing Iran on February 28.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said on Wednesday it had launched a missile attack on Tel Aviv in retaliation for the murder of Ali Larijani.
