Tapparan point spinner Benjamin Rautiainen won the SM league’s Lasse Oksanen award. The award is given to the best player in the regular season.
The winner is chosen by a vote of hockey journalists.
Rautiainen, 20, is the second youngest winner of the Oksanen award, which has been awarded since 1994. The Tappara winger has only won the award when he was younger Saku Koivu in 1995.
The attacker also received recognition from his colleagues, when the SM league players previously voted Rautiainen as the best player of the regular season, the recipient of the Golden Helmet award.
Rautiainen formed a dangerous pair with Joachim Blichfeld.
Dunnock won the regular season points and assists exchange. In 59 matches, the Tampere player scored a whopping 77 (25+52) power points.
Of the 92 hockey journalists who participated in the vote, 55 ranked Rautiainen first. Rautiainen’s chain friend Joachim Blichfeld earned 7 first places and finished third in the voting.
Second place went to SaiPan Maxime Fortier (13 first places).
Tappara players have won the award before Janne Ojanen (2002), Jori Lehterä (2010) and Kristian Kuusela (2016).
