Champions League: 7-2 offensive gala against Newcastle: Barcelona in the quarter-finals

The outstanding Raphinha (6th, 72nd), Marc Bernal (18th), Lamine Yamal with a converted penalty (45th + 7th), Fermín López (51st) and Robert Lewandowski (56th, 61st) scored the goals for Barcelona. For Newcastle, Anthony Elanga (15th, 28th) equalized twice in the first half.

Thiaw goes down, Woltemade goes down

It was an open game from the start, with Newcastle initially coming back twice with German international Malick Thiaw in the starting line-up. Shortly before and after half-time, Barcelona decided the duel. Kieran Trippier brought down the incoming Raphinha in front of his own goal, and Yamal converted the penalty given after the video referee intervened to take the lead again. In the first quarter of an hour after the change, Barcelona literally tore apart Newcastle’s defense around Thiaw. As in the first leg, Nick Woltemade was not used.

Barcelona now faces a Spanish duel in the quarter-finals. The current leaders of the Spanish Primera Division will face the winner of the duel between Atlético Madrid and Tottenham Hotspurs, which Atlético won 5-2 in the first leg.
