Pezeshkian condemns attacks on its energy infrastructure and warns of “uncontrollable” effects for the entire world

The president of Iran, Masud Pezeshkian, condemned this Wednesday the attacks against its energy infrastructure, after denouncing during the day a bombing of the Bushehr nuclear power plant, on the southern coast of the country, which is operated jointly with Russia, which has also denounced the events.

“I strongly condemn the attacks against Iran’s energy infrastructure,” he said in a brief message on social networks, where he assured that these “will not bring any benefit” to the United States or Israel, nor to “their supporters.”

On the contrary, Pezeshkian has warned that attacks on this type of facilities “will complicate the situation and could have uncontrollable consequences, the scope of which could affect the entire world.”

His statements come after the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has confirmed the destruction of a structure near the reactor of the Bushehr nuclear power plant, due to an attack within the framework of the offensive by the United States and Israel, which has already left more than 1,200 dead in Iranian territory alone, according to Tehran, although the NGO Human Rights Activists in Iran, based in the United States, has raised the death toll to more than 3,000, mostly civilians.

The director general of the IAEA, Rafael Grossi, has indicated that the structure was 350 meters from the reactor, although he has not given more details. “Any attack on nuclear facilities or in their vicinity violates the seven essential pillars related to nuclear security guarantees during an armed conflict and should never take place,” he said on social networks about an incident that has left no material or personal damage.
