Ukrainian attacks hit aircraft factories in Russia

The Ukrainian army has hit two aircraft factories in Russia with air strikes, according to its general staff. The military in Kiev said the Aviastar aircraft factory near Ulyanovsk on the Volga was attacked on Monday night.

An air-conditioned hall and a parking area as well as several aircraft were damaged. The factory produces Ilyushin Il-76 military transport aircraft, Il-78 tanker aircraft and maintains heavy transport aircraft.

In addition, a maintenance factory for Il-76 near Staraya Russa in western Russia was attacked with drones on Tuesday night. A hangar was damaged. The hits were not confirmed by the Russian side. The Defense Ministry in Moscow only said that attacking Ukrainian drones had been intercepted in these regions.

In repelling the Russian invasion, Ukraine is trying to eliminate military targets deep in the enemy’s hinterland. Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin ordered his troops to invade the neighboring country in February 2022.
