Quang Ngai plans to develop scuba diving tourism in Ganh Yen and Hon Nhan

On March 19, the Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Center of Quang Ngai province together with departments and Chau Tan investment company surveyed Ganh Yen and Hon Nhan to invest in tourism projects.

According to the proposal, the business will invest in equipment and human resources to develop types of tourism such as scuba diving, coral watching, SUP rowing, camping to watch the sunrise… on an operating area of ​​about 50 hectares, mainly water surface in the two locations mentioned above.

Hon Nhan is a small island about 700 meters from the shore, formed from volcanic activity, surrounded by a rich coral ecosystem and marine life. From this area, you can observe the Ba Lang An coastline, the lighthouse and see Ly Son island when the weather is favorable.

Meanwhile, Ganh Yen also possesses a pristine landscape with geology formed from volcanic rocks, similar to Ganh Da Dia in Phu Yen. Ganh also has exposed coral reefs at low tide and corals under the sea. This is one of the famous places on the coast of Quang Ngai.

However, for a long time, tourism activities at these two locations have been mainly spontaneous and small-scale, with no types of experiential tourism to attract large-scale visitors. Therefore, local businesses want to invest, targeting young customers who love to explore and be close to nature.

“When these types develop, they will contribute to diversifying Quang Ngai’s marine tourism products, creating new destinations besides known areas such as Ly Son,” the business representative said.

At the survey, the authorities gave suggestions to businesses to research the project’s compatibility with existing planning, and at the same time, businesses need to survey the water surface, marine environment, safety for tourists and aim at community tourism for people to participate.

The Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Center of Quang Ngai province will support businesses in completing investment procedures and advise the Quang Ngai People’s Committee to work with investors.

Quang Ngai has a coastline of about 130 km, with many famous beaches such as My Khe, Chau Tan, Sa Huynh and many landscapes formed from volcanic lava millions of years ago such as Ly Son island, Thach Ky Dieu Tau, Hon Nhan, Ganh Yen, Ba Lang An… After the merger, the province has a new development axis, Mang Den.

In 2025, Quang Ngai tourism will welcome about 5.2 million visitors, an increase of 38% compared to 2024. Tourism revenue will reach about 3,700 billion VND (up 74%), of which international visitors will reach about 98,500, an increase of 2.6 times.
