Vida Manso González-Zabraniecki receives the Order of Alfonso X the Wise for spreading Spanish culture in France

The Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and Sports has presented the Cervantes Institute in Toulouse with the decoration of the Civil Order of Alfonso X the Wise, with the category of Cross, to Vida Manso González-Zabranieckihighlighting his contribution to the development of Spanish teaching and the dissemination of Spanish culture in France.

At the ceremony, the Consul General of Spain in Toulouse also presented the Declaration of Recognition and Reparation to the person as a victim of the Franco dictatorship, on behalf of the Ministry of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory.

During the ceremony, Vida Manso’s contribution to the development of Spanish teaching in France was highlighted, where she has had a long career as a teacher, pedagogical inspector and general inspector at the Toulouse Academy, promoting key initiatives such as the creation of international Spanish sections and her participation in the BachiBac program.

Born in Barcelona in 1939, Vida Manso crossed the border into France when she was just a baby with her exiled family. Since then, he has carried out intense work in Toulouse in favor of the dissemination of the Spanish language and culture, contributing decisively to the strengthening of educational links between Spain and France.

The Civil Order of Alfonso

The event concluded with the intervention of the awardee and the students of the Lycée Saint Sernin, followed by an honorary wine offered by the Cervantes Institute of Toulouse.

Among the attendees were also prominent personalities from the academic and cultural fields, such as Javier Pérez Bazo, professor of Spanish Literature at the University of Toulouse – Jean Jaurès, and Jean-Pierre Amalric, historian and honorary life president of the Présence de Manuel Azaña association (Montauban), also signatories of the grant application.

In addition, representatives of the cultural field linked to the dissemination of Spanish cinema in France participatedwith the presence of members of the CineEspaña association, as well as family and friends of the award winner.

Also attending were prominent representatives of the Spanish and French educational communities, including members of the management teams of the Lycée Saint Sernin and the Collège Michelet, along with the coordinator of the International Spanish Section and the teaching staff of the Spanish Department of the Lycée.
