This is the second impact recorded in the Old City since the start of the war after this Monday fragments of a missile intercepted by the Israeli defense fell on a roof of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate in Jerusalem, a few meters from the Basilica of the Holy Sepulcher without causing any victims.

The Old City, located in occupied East Jerusalem, was spared attacks during Israel’s previous twelve-day war against Iran last June, when cities on the outskirts of Tel Aviv and the southern Beersheba suffered the main damage.

According to data from then, in the west of Jerusalem – with a Jewish majority – there are 550 shelters (public and private) compared to only 51 in the east; area where approximately 40% of the Palestinian population resides. In addition, the city’s 186 public shelters are located in the west, while in the east there are none, except for those located in some schools.
